The Andy Anselmo Singers Forum Youth Summer Recreation program will perform "Songs Around the World"
at the Fredonia Opera House at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Sixteen youth participants ranging in age from 8
to 18 spent Thursday perfecting their performance.
"This is the sixth year of the children's
program and we have had an adult program for eight years," said
Anselmo.
According to Anselmo, famous personalities such
as Liza Minelli, Tony Bennett and Brooke Shields have attended the
Andy Anselmo Singers Forum over the past 28 years.
Teachers for this performance include Davis
Gross and Susan Young. The event is free to the public.
This year's participants include Anna Austin,
Cara Barnes, Ellen Callahan, Taylor Carruth, Samuel McMaster,
Katelyn Muldowney, Daniel Olszewski, Rachel Olszewski, Michael
Parker, Ashley Paulus, Leah Paulus, Robbie Paulis, Laura Pfleuger,
Abigayle Ploetz and Graciela Rey.
The Singers Forum is designed to draw youth into
the world of musical performance. Participants learn the
step-by-step process that allows them to develop poise and
self-assurance, while developing vocal talents and learning through
music, dance and performances.
The week-long retreat began Monday and will be
completed with the final performance on Saturday afternoon.
The Singers Forum is a not-for-profit
organization founded by Anselmo, a Brocton native and Canisius
College [alumnus].
