It's hard to believe, but another year is almost gone!  This Friday marks the end of the Fall 2006 Semester.  We'll take a week off to recharge our batteries, because once school opens again in 2007, we're going to need that energy!  We have a new teacher joining us, Open House, and a whole new semester of classes starting in January.  Read on for more information!

New Faculty Member Joins SF in January!

Singers Forum would like to welcome a new young teacher to our faculty.  John Capes has studied at UCLA, Northwestern and the Vienna Conservatory, and he has appeared on Broadway, the European stage, and television.

John will be offering private sessions in vocal technique.  He can work with singers in all genres. He says:

"Vocally, the technique must be solid and the same for every type of singing. Once you have your foundation, you can build any type of style on top of that. That style will be the singer's personal choice."

John also notes that he's looking forward to creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for his students.

If you'd like to meet our new addition, he will be at Open House on January 7, which will be a great opportunity for students to learn more about his teaching style and philosophy.

Sing Out, Louise!: SF Open Mic

Singers Forum hosts an Open Mic the first Friday of every month.  The next Open Mic will be Friday, January 5.

Emcee John Koprowski will be on hand, and David Epstein will be back, providing professional accompaniment at the grand piano. Bring two songs, with sheet music in your key, and make sure to arrive early.  Sign-up begins at 7:30 pm, and Open Mic starts at 8 pm!

All styles of music are welcome, and we invite you to stay on and support your fellow performers after you leave the stage.  We look forward to seeing you there!
