Music Writers Workshop Presented by The Field
|
|
Are you a music writer developing new works? Non-profit artist service organization The Field will be holding a Music Fieldwork Workshop here in the Cabaret Room on Saturday afternoons from March 3 - April 28. The 8-week workshop is an opportunity for songwriters, sound designers and improvisers. You can create instrumental, electronic/computer, vocal music and all other musical genres with the support and structure of weekly meetings. At each session, participants share works-in-progress and share feedback in a format designed by performing artists. Guided by facilitator Susan Oetgen, discussions are both rigorous and supportive. Rather than imposing instructions, the structure of Fieldwork honors each artist's prerogative by providing detailed feedback on the work presented so participants can craft their vision. Fieldwork culminates in an informal recital open to the public.
When: Saturdays, 3:00-5:30 pm March 3-April 28 (no meeting April 7) Where: Singers Forum Cabaret Room Fee: $100 ($70 members of The Field) To sign up, visit www.thefield.org or call 212.691.6969, ext. 16.
SPECIAL DISCOUNT: SIGN UP WITH A FRIEND AND THE SECOND PERSON GETS 15% OFF! Just use the promo code DOUBLE when signing up online, or mention the discount by phone.
Note: This is not a Singers Forum class. The Field is an artist service organization that has supported performing artists since 1986. Field programs help independent artists create new artwork, manage their careers, and develop long-range strategies for sustaining a life in the arts. Serving artists on a completely nonexclusive basis, everything The Field offers is open to artists from all aesthetic viewpoints, cultural backgrounds, and levels of development. The Field's aim is to create a climate where artists are supported, originality is championed, and where the broadest range of voices are heard.
