Primordial Jazz Funktet Releases CD
|
|
The Primordial Jazz Funktet, led by SF's own Dan Furman, has released its first eponymous CD. The Primordial Jazz Funktet brings a lot of the 21st century into a (mostly) traditional jazz quintet, often joined by a vocalist. Furman started the group in Atlanta, GA, and moved it to New York in 2004. The Funktet plays Furman's compositions, which are strongly influenced by funk and hiphop beats, as well as by world music sounds. "The music is intense, but it always grooves," he says. The CD is available on iTunes. You can also pick up the actual CD at Singers Forum for $15 ($5 from each CD is donated to Singers Forum Foundation).
